Blue sky waits for us |
This post is a personal reminder.
In 2010 I had lots of fun but also some episodes that made me re-evaluate what is important to me.
One of the things I discovered is that I prevent myself of doing new things because I am afraid of not having the time to do them right. So I don't start to learn a new language because it takes a lot of energy, I don't start sporting because I won't be running any half-marathon anyway, I don't share my photography because it demands some effort to show something really worth, and I don't build more websites because I will never to do some good job with the few time I have anyway!
And the time passes and in the end, I did just one thing the entire year: go to the office. That is already a passion right? Yes, it is. But is it my only passion?
Changes on the current way to do the things are healthy and sometimes you need one external factor to force you to perceive it.
Some time ago I read a book about Lady Gaga (yes I did!) and during her black years she made a commitment to herself, something like "It doesn't matter what I do to live, I will always do something with music, every day , because I am passionate". And even when she was doing the most strange work, she was always busy with... music! And she went on and on and on, and now we see where she is.
I found it very interesting and decide to adopt the concept. It doesn't matter what I do, I will keep myself busy with images. Every day a bit. I know the coming months will be hard, I need to get back to my 40 hours/week, absorbing, job. But I will try to keep the flame burning. I will keep the blog, I will get some eventual assignments and develop some of my projects. Even if I can't keep all of this running at the same time, if I focus on small pieces, I can get them done, and move to the next small project.
A great 2011 to all of us!
