Spongebob Crab Burgers
For a long time I have been fiddling with crab burgers. I have already tried two different recipes with no success. Yesterday, in one of that a-ha moments, I saw what was wrong with my crab burgers. I started to look at many different recipes and saw the light: how to make the perfect, crispy, crab burgers! My next job is at Bikini Bottom.
This is a party to all Spongebob friends! Put your square pants and let it go!
Warm-up the oven at 100 degrees...
Put four slices of white bread to dry up into the oven. Not toast, but dry up.
Open two cans of crab meet...
let it drain together with 125 g of small shrimps. Tips: squeeze it with a kitchen paper. It is important to get is as dry as possible.
Unpack 2 packs of 150g of surimi sticks and chop chop chop...
Now the bread: put it into the food processor until it is fine
Add the fine bread to the meet
and add all the other ingredients: one egg, one table spoon of cajun powder (you can choose whatever you find tasty. I use the cajun powder from Albert Hein). Be careful to not add more than one table spoon! Add also three tablespoons of mayonnaise, one tablespoon of Dijon mustard, and one tablespoon of lemon juice.
Now the important part: PROOF! Adjust salt, cajun, peper.... but please proof it!
Pile them on a plate, with plastic film in the between and put it into the freezer for 1/2 hour at least.
In the meantime, select and wash some baby-lettuce leaves...
Slice a couple of tomatoes and open the bread
Sprinkle some olive oil on the bread...
Warmup two skillets: one for the burgers and one for the bread...
Involve the crab burger on the egg and after that on some fine breadcrumbs. In Netherlands we have the "Paneermeel". In Brazil "Farinha de Rosca"...
Fry the burgers on some butter/oil (I use Becel) and on the other skillet, toast the breads...
You need to fry no more than 3 minutes per side.
and after that, mount the plate. Serve it with french fries and a good sauce, fat greasy mayonnaise base sauce.
It is simply DELICIOUS.
