Lago di Vagli on High Dynamic Range
I am not a big fan of the HDR technique.
In fact, I find it very fake and aggressive. But sometimes.... well, you see a scene and realize your poor camera cannot capture all that glory your spirit is just perceiving.
This place is grandious, is bright and makes you feel... small. It's called Lago di Vagli and I was very impressed with the amount of space around me when I was there. And so I took three pictures. Just for myself. And dared to merge them using luminance-hdr (a free software for Mac).I imported it back on Lightroom to work out the noise and levels but of course, once I got out of the RAW and imported it back on JPG I lost a lot. Specially on the blue channel.
This is one of the drawbacks of using a software you don't know very well.
The image is heavily posterized and noisy. But at least, it reflects what I perceived when I was there. A suffocating and bright grandiosity. I was fully present.
Another vision with even more contrasting details. Too forced for my taste. The lens was also dirty after an entire day on the path. But somehow the image is not real any more. I no longer want to work on it, so I stopped at this point.
