#47 [Early Adopter]

_MG_2895.jpg

Today we had a (healthy!) discussion in the office: early adopters.

Early adopters are always early but, at the same time, they are always late. Because by acquiring something that is "new" they are quickly behind and because of that they are always late. And because they are always waiting for something newer, they enjoy less the functionality of a product.

Five years ago I bought a Canon 400D. I would like to have the first 5D model but it was far too expensive for my standards. So, I invested my few coins on a 400D and three exceptional lenses.

Last year I could finally run to my 5D. Now a Mark II. Already obsolete... for the early adopters. For me it is a fantastic camera and I enjoy it every day since I bought it and if I would think that I should wait for the Mark III to come to the market, I would not have the 5D and I would not be enjoying it so much as I am doing on the past six months.

The picture from today is taken with the 5D Mark II. The picture from yesterday, I took with the 400D.

I like the #47 much more: the sensor is clearly superior and colors are deeper.

Conclusion of our discussion: no conclusion! You are free to do what you want.

My point: once I acquire a gadget, I enjoy it and don't keep peering on the vitrine looking at the new model which is better than what I have, and also because you don't know if you are going to be alive when the new model comes. Literally!
