Geocached day

One of the challenges of going on holidays with a kid of 18 and another of 7 is to engage on nice activities that are pleasant to both boys and also for us.

Still wearing a sweater and a body warmer

Following the advice of a friend, we have a new gadget: a GPS.

And with this electronic compass we engaged on "Geocaching" or the art of finding treasures...

Now, paying attention on the GPS and the body warmer is gone.

First you go to the geocaching site and create an account. Then you look for treasures that are lying on the neighborhood (or to the place you are traveling to).

Download the coordinates on the GPS and start to navigate. It is exactly like the good and old compass but extremely precise.

Only t-shirt now and trying to find out the answer for the charade

Some good souls hide caches (treasures) around the planet and you should find them, open, take something from it and LEAVE SOMETHING BEHIND, sign the logbook, close it and put it back on its place.

Nobody is able to keep sweaters, body warmers or whatever. The sun started to shine and it was really hot!

For us, a bit awkward at the beginning. The clues are not something you find everyday. People are very clever on creating charades, puzzle questions, based on the environment. And the caches are hidden into holes on the ground, or even into a fake "stone".

I don't dare to put my hand there.... this is why we marry right?

But it is a lot of fun. You spend hours outside with the child and he doesn't nag all the time on your ears! It keeps them busy.

We still have more than 100 caches just on Haarlem and surroundings to be discovered, and I can't wait to be in Italy and look for caches over there.

I hope we engage on this activity because if there is something I miss from Brazil is walking and hiking! Being around nature is something I miss A LOT!

Signing the log

Happy ending!
