#33 [Beaten up]

Máxima

Good times, old times... this is something I really did NOT enjoy doing... don't get me wrong: the subject is fantastic. I am a great fan of our princess! But...

On that same 2007 I accompanied my friend Ray, the "Sem Fronteiras" editor (and king), to the "Wereld Omroep Gala". This is a luxurious presentation of the powerful TV senders and program makers in Netherlands and full of celebrities.

I went there to take some "journalistic" pictures for the magazine and I was also trying my brand new Canon 70-200mm 2.8IS L for the first time. A real canon... I was put behind a cord, together with the other photographers (or snapshooters, or may I say paparazzi?). By the angle of the picture you can easy notice some faulty things:

a) The lens was far too long for the distance I was set and I couldn't go any further because behind me there was a curtain of 40 men, all of them at least 1.90m high.
b) Although the lens is an Image Stabilizer and the shutter speed was set very high (1/320), the image is not sharp... I will give you a chance do discover why: the huge photographers, called "colleagues", were beating me up on the line: kicking me, poking me, squeezing me, pushing and pulling... it's very easy to do it against someone that is 1.60m when you are 1.90m right? Right, and apparently scruples is not something those guys have learned yet. I think they were jealous of my lens ;) hihihi

Well, I have learned my lesson: I put my right hand over my heart and solemnly decided I was not born to that. Push and pull are not my strongest points. Hight also not.

But I just mentioned two bad things right? Yes, that is right! But guess what I got as a prize for all this domestic violence?

-The most beautiful expression  of this girl, who was playing for the celebrities:

- A photograph of her score with that charming clothes-peg:

- And the unbeatable Ray promoting his magazine:

After the bloody fight was over, I stored my camera and went inside to attend the event, leaving the monkey curtain behind me. Always smiling and over the heels!
