This one of the most apart vegetables I have ever seen, and also very tasty. It has a soft taste, something like a light potato... a bit sweet. Anyway, a nice (and not very common) vegetable. Mr Google tells me it's called "kholrabi" in English (which I don't believe) and "couve-rábano" in Portuguese, which I have never heard about.
This is a very simple recipe I make and very quick as well. I also apologize for not having a photo of the final dish: as fast as I made it, as fast we ate it and I completely forgot to register the small wonder :)
You start with the ingredients, a classical and well known combination: honey, creme fraiche, goat cheese, thyme and the koolrabi.
Cut on thick slices and cook it for around 8 minutes in a bit of salty water.
Arrange into a tray and arrange like you would do with potato gratin:
Make a mix with the creme fraiche, honey and thyme and spread over the slices. Put into the oven until it gets A LITTLE bit colored. Don't let it get brown!
And here I leave you wondering how beautiful this dish was. It was so nice I only could think about eating it and forgot completely to take the final picture. Sorry folks!
