Shocking

_MG_4514.jpg

At 13:30 we had the shock of our lives. My child was not to be seen on the daycare after school. Instead of looking for him around, they called us.

At the beginning I was very relaxed. I thought my boy had just gone home with another parent. Smart-ass. As I started to call the other mothers and fathers and heard he was anywhere, the adrenaline started to flood my little body.

Luckily some of the parents had seen my little boy tiding up the classroom, because today was the last school day of the year and told me the boy went for sure to the day care.

In the meantime super-papa was already driving home. I called them again and asked them to please check once more around because I was going to take serious action. Then they discovered that little son was there, playing, oblivious to the concerns around.

For sure there is something wrong with this day care. They have no idea how sick I am feeling right now, although relieved that my boy is safe. They are trying to fix up things. Official letters, measurements, apologies. I am more than willing to accept all of this and believe it won’t happen again. But I still have a knot on my stomach. Just for the thirty minutes I was on my shoes imagining were my child would be and how people are bad in this world.

I cannot even think about the parents who have lost their kids on such banal and unimportant situations like this one. First thinking the child was just playing a joke and then discovering the kid had just vanished. One more face on the milk pack.

The story had a very happy ending but it didn’t prevent my heart from sinking.

Another subject: light was gorgeous today. Those orchids are lasting very long. M. brought them from the garage last time the car was there to be fixed. I though they were going to die. And there they are: beautiful!

Plants like attention. Just like people do.
